There was used Baytril (enrofloxacin) in the prophylaxis and therapy of geese. The lethal dose — LD₅₀ of enrofloxacin for goslings aged 7 days was 666 mg per 1 kg of body weight. The therapeutic efficiency of Baytril in the treatment of pasteurellosis was assessed in a flock of 800 geese of 3 months old. The effect of enrofloxacin was seen after the administration of the drug at a dose of 15 mg per bird for 3 days. The prophylactic dose of Baytril given with drinking water (at a dose of 50 ml in 100 1 of water) for 3 days and during the action of stress factors better protected the animals from semipathogens than Lautecin given at a dose of 2 g per 1 1 of water for 3 days. There was observed an increase weight gains and faster feather growth as well. Eleven native strains of mycoplasma spp isolated in Poland from geese were more sensitive to enrofloxacin than to lincospectin, dynamutilin, gentamycin and tylosin.
