The analysis of synthetic indicators, characterizing the production potential of rural areas, covering 49 provinces, showed that the changes in political-economic system in Polish agriculture increased the existing disproportions among the regions economically privileged and the areas underprivileged in this respect. This asymmetry is also intensified by greater activity of the country people in seeking for other nonagricultural sources of income. The consequence is the further increase of population (already numerous) in the villages with bigger economical and natural potential. In areas delayed in development, where the density of population is relatively low, the process of country people migration is in progress.
