The links and connections of the agricultural farms with the market in Poland have been presented and analysed on the basis of the Agricultural Census 1996 (organized by the Central Statistical Office). The farms under analysis have been classified in different groups according to: sources of income, family size, cultivated areas, commercial agricultural production, production and investment expenses, bank loans and credits etc. The analysis has proved that in all above mentioned aspects Polish agricultural farms are diversified and heterogeneous to a very high extent. Now-a-days only few of them can be regarded as technologically and economically modern enterprises adapted to the requirements and needs of the European Union.
