PL

Great medical importance of onion, which is one of the oldest nutritive plant, is discussed in this paper. An interest in therapeutical features of onion has increased rapidly in the recent years as a result of the discovery of several chemical substances in onion. Among its important biological activities, which were evidenced well, there are as follows: antibacterial gastroenterologic, hipoglicemic, antisclerosis, salidiuretic.

Omówiono znaczenie lecznicze cebuli (Allium cepa L.), należącej do najstarszych roślin pokarmowych. W ostatnich latach, po ukazaniu się szeregu publikacji na temat nowoodkrytych substancji chemicznych występujących w cebuli, znacznie wzrosło zainteresowanie terapeutyczne tym surowcem. Wśród udokumentowanych ważniejszych kierunków biologicznego działania cebuli wymienić należy: działanie przeciwbakteryjne, gastroenterologiczne, salidiuretyczne, hipoglikemiczne i przeciwmiażdżycowe.
