The new extinct species Thionia douglundbergi sp. nov. of the recent genus Thionia Stål, 1859 from the Miocene Dominican amber is described. The morphological features of the genus are discussed in brief. The fossil record of ‘higher’ Fulgoroidea in New World fossil resins is discussed.
