Paper discussed the role of ground consolidation and ground exchange in arranging of the rural areas. The spatial and economic results of such activities, as well as the social and legal-administrative ones, were indicated. It was stated that land consolidation would be of advantage for the environment and landscape formation. A complex attempt to shaping of rural areas is necessary and the ground consolidation may be an efficient method to attain that goal.
