Undertaking ventures of a project nature requires a considerable running out into the future. Orientation towards the future causes that in all the projects being undertaken, the main problem to be resolved is the problem of uncertainty and risk. A strong competition, instability and ever changing terms and conditions cause hat each venture is entailing the germ of risk. Essence of risk is in an alternative for success or failure, gain or loss. New, future conditions depend on many factors that are difficult for anticipation and determination. Thus, it is difficult to quantify the direction and strength, with which they will affect project effectiveness. Therefore, a very important matter is risk management (an active control of risk) and limitation thereof.

Осуществление мероприятий, носящих характер проекта, требует значительного заглядьівания в будущее. Ориентировка на будущее приводит к тому, что во всех предпринимаемых проектах основной проблемой, которую надо решить, является проблема неуверенности и риска. Сильная конкуренция, нестабильность и все время изменяющиеся условия приводят к тому, что каждое мероприятие чревато риском. Суть риска связана c альтернативой успеха или неудачи, прибыли или потери. Новые, будущие условия зависят от многих факторов, которые трудно предугадать и определить. Тем самим трудно квантифицировать направление и силу, c какой они будут воздействовать на зффективность мероприятия. Позтому весьма важным вопросом является управление риском (активний контроль за риском) и его ограничение.
