W artykule omówiono niektóre kluczowe zagadnienia dotyczące drzew przy trasach komunikacyjnych z uwzględnieniem problemów bezpieczeństwa, percepcji roślinności przyulicznej przez ludność oraz kierunków zwiększania efektywności wpływu roślinności otaczającej drogi i ulice na jakość środowiska miejskiego.

Correct management of vegetation on street and road shoulders is extremely important for road safety and driving comfort as well as the state of the environment along communication routes. The article presents the results of European and American research concerning collisions with trees on roads and actions aimed at improving the effectiveness of natural environment influence. Discussed are the principles of coordination of work while designing and executing works as well as the advantages obtained thanks to the comprehensive approach to engineering and natural works. Especially stressed is the importance of rainwater resources management for its maximum use for irrigation of green areas near communication routes. The article quotes the results of questionnaire research concerning people's assessment of different ways of road shoulders' management.
