Na przykładzie wyników badań prowadzonych w USA i w krajach europejskich omówione są korzyści uzyskiwane z obecności drzew rosnących w strukturach miejskich, ze szczególnym podkreśleniem korzyści, które udało się przedstawić w formie pieniężnej. Są to: ograniczanie zanieczyszczeń powietrza, sekwestracja dwutlenku węgla, łagodzenie ekstremów temperatury i związane z tym oszczędności energii w gospodarstwach domowych oraz redukcja spływu wód burzowych, a także korzyści ekologiczne wyrażające się tworzeniem środowiska dla dzikiej przyrody. Przedstawione są korzyści społeczne w zakresie oddziaływania drzew na fizyczne, psychiczne i duchowe odczucia ludności, a także na zmniejszanie przestępczości. Wykazane są również bezpośrednie korzyści ekonomiczne dotycząc wzrostu cen sprzedażnych działek zadrzewionych i z urządzonym krajobrazem w stosunku do posesji bezdrzewnych.

The results of the research conducted in the United States and European countries exemplify the benefits resulting from trees growing in urban locale, especially the financial profits. These benefits are as follows: air pollution reduction, carbon dioxide sequestration, temperature control and connected decrease of energy used in households, reduction of storm water run-off and ecological advantages for wild life. Social merits of trees presence include their influence on physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing of population as well as crime reduction. Moreover, indirect economical benefits were proved as the market price of properties with trees and developed landscape rose in contrast to those of properties without trees.
