Ninety six large white pigs of 30 kg body mass were divided into 6 groups and 4 pigs per pen. All pigs were fed commercial grower mixture up to about 70 kg body mass. Further feeding to about 110 kg was differencial by applying commercial finishing mixture (groups I, II and III) or such mixture with reduced by 22% protein level (groups IV, V and VI) . Energy level in these mixtures was increased by 29% (fat supplement, groups III and VI ), or decreased by 20% (straw meal supplement, groups II and V ) . At the end of experiment carcass quality was evaluated. During growing period body weight gain was similar for all groups. During finishing period decrease of energy caused lower gains on both protein levels. Increase of energy lead to higher gains on normal protein level and slightly lower gains on lower protein level. At normal protein level decrease of energy in feeds did not change carcass fat content, increase of energy increased fat content. At low protein level pigs fed low energy diet had carcassess of lower quality.
