Effects of growing media and concentration of nutrient solution on growth, flowering, evapotranspiration and macroelement content of media and leaves of Verbena x hybrida Voss were evaluated under ebb-and-flow conditions. Three media: peat, peat + perlite (3 : 1), peat + sand (3 : 1) (v/v), and four concentrations of the nutrient solution: 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 S·m⁻¹ were applied. The highest fresh and dry weights, plant height and shoot number were obtained when plants were fertigated at 1.5 S·m⁻¹, the highest flower bud and flower numbers were obtained when plants were fertigated at 2.0 S·m⁻¹. At the visible flower bud stage the lowest evapotranspiration was measured at the lowest concentration of nutrient solution 1.0 S·m⁻¹, the highest at 1.5 S·m⁻¹. N, P and K concentrations of verbena leaves increased with the increasing concentration of nutrient solution. Concentrations of Ca and Mg decreased with increasing concentration of nutrient solution. Plants grown in peat + sand accumulated less N, P, K and Mg than those grown in peat. Increased concentration of nutrient solution decreased the pH and increased total soluble salts in root zone. Increasing the EC of nutrient solution also increased the N, P, K and Mg contents of media, but reduced the accumulation of Ca.

Badano wpływ podłoży i stężenia pożywki nawozowej na wzrost, kwitnienie, ewapotranspirację i zawartość makroelementów w podłożach i liściach werbeny ogrodowej uprawianej na stołach zalewowych. Zastosowano 3 podłoża: torf, torf + perlit (3 : 1) i torf + piasek (3 : 1) (v/v) oraz 4 stężenia pożywki: 1,0; 1,5; 2,0; 2,5 S·m⁻¹. Najwyższą świeżą i suchą masę, wysokość i liczbę pędów osiągnęły rośliny nawożone pożywką o EC 1,5 S·m⁻¹, najwięcej pąków kwiatowych i kwiatów miały rośliny nawożone pożywką o EC 2,0 S·m⁻¹. Wzrost stężenia pożywki powodował wzrost zawartości N, P, K i Mg w podłożach i spadek zawartości Ca.
