In 2012 and 2013 the evaluation of the ability for the generative propaga-tion after cross-pollination of eleven Chinese cabbage and six head cabbage in-breed lines pollinated with the use of two types of insects: the red mason bee (Osmia rufa) and the house fly (Musca domestica) was performed in the isolated growth-cages placed in the field and in the greenhouse. The influence of quantity of the red mason bee on the seed effectiveness of cabbage genotypes was also tested. Both red mason bee and house fly were effective as pollinators for the cross-pollination, however for the head cabbage inbred lines higher seed setting was obtained when pollinated with red mason bee. Head cabbage plants pollinated in the greenhouse developed more seeds than pollinated in the field. The type of pollination insects and conditions of pollination (greenhouse, open field) had smaller impact on Chinese cabbage genotypes than head cabbage. The quantity of red mason bee on the seed effectiveness of Chinese cabbage and head cabbage had a big influence as well.
