Antybiotyki obecne w środowisku glebowym stanowią coraz większy problem. Nawożenie pól uprawnych obornikiem sprzyja rozprzestrzenianiu leków i niezmetabolizowanych substancji leczniczych w środowisku. W najwyższym, zastosowanym stężeniu elongacja łodyg i korzeni została zahamowana odpowiednio o 82 i 71%, w odniesieniu do siewek kontrolnych.

Antibiotics found in the soil environment present a growing problem. Fertilization of fields with manure favors the spread of drugs and non-metabolized medical substances in the environment. Tetracyclines are most frequently used in veterinary medicine, with 75-80% of a therapeutic dose being excreted to the environment in an unchanged form. The studies demonstrated an inhibitory effect of the tested doses of oxytetracycline on the elongation of lupin seedlings. Together with an increase in oxytetracycline concentration in soil, the growth rate of the analyzed organs was reduced. At the highest applied concentration, the elongation of stems and roots was inhibited by 82 and 71%, respectively, with reference to control seedlings. It was proven that the activity of guaiacol peroxidase in lupin root rose together with an increasing contamination of soil with oxytetracycline. At the highest of the examined concentrations (10 mM), the activity of the enzyme increased three times. The applied biotest demonstrated a phytotoxic effect of oxytetracycline on the growth and development of yellow lupin seedlings.
