The prime objective of the research carried out was to analyse the impact of the rehabilitative enhancement programme, which is offered during a two week stay, on the individually specified parameters of physical fitness of the participants. The level of physical fitness of the elderly participants who stayed at the Rehabilitation and Leisure Centre at Gościm was evaluated. The study covered 300 subjects aged 55 to 87. With a view to evaluating the progress in the subjects’ functional capacity, it was twice (at the beginning and at the end of their stay) measured by means of the same test. To that end the recommended Fullerton Functional Fitness Test was used. As a result of a 14 day cycle of physical exercise that the subjects were to perform, a very noticeable progress was observed. It referred to 90% of the females A very high efficiency of the improvement program that was carried out across the length of the rehabilitative stay has been demonstrated as concerns improvement in the fitness of the elderly subjects. Once verified, the present author’s results have allowed to verify positively the assumed working hypothesis, namely that the participation of the elderly people in enhancement programs provided during rehabilitative stays has a beneficial influence on the selected physical fitness parameters. The obtained results and their subsequent analysis allow to come to a conclusion that the enhancement programme in the form as it is now seems to implement in full the tasks that the participants and its providers were assigned with. Improved fitness declared as one of the major objectives is clearly visible.
