The aim of the study was to analyse data that can prove the correlation between the presence of zearalenone (ZEA) in the blood plasma and occurrence of mammary gland tumours. The study was carried out during one year on two hundred women. ZEA was detected in 74 patients (37%). Within this group, benign lesions were noted in 44 (59.5%) patients and malignant lesions in 30 (40.5%) patients. The presence of ZEA in the human organism increases the probability of hyperoestrogenism and in consequence the initiation of the growth of malignant and benign tumours.
