In the presented paper, PCR-RFLP and RFLP-PFGE with two different enzymes were applied for the discrimination of 48 Campylobacter isolates from poultry carcasses and faeces. Both used typing methods had a typeability of 100% on this collection of the strains. PFGE with SacII enzyme was the most discriminatory method with the discrimination index of 0.98. Restriction analysis of the flaA gene also appeared to be a suitable typing method because of rapidness and easy to perform especially in large-scale investigations. By the reason of some limitations of both tests in epidemiological studies, combined two molecular methods based on whole genome and fragment DNA analysis could provide the most relevant data for the identification and differentiation of Campylobacter sp. strains.
