Concentration processes of trading food products in Europe have in recent decades itensified. This process has embraced in recent years especially countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Russia still belongs to the dynamicly growing markets with big purchasing power potential, represented by more than 140 mln potential consumers. According to specialists' evaluation, expressed by, among others, the Global Retail Development Index, Russian market is close to saturation, what, with high propability, can result in lowering dynamics of sales in following years. Nevertheless the countries of Eastern Europe with Russia and Ukraine remaining at the forefront will for a long time be an attractive location for expansion and development of modern distribution channels.
