The aim of the study was to explain how the prices of fresh cut roses are determined by some non - economic factors. Prices of rose flowers were recorded every 7 - 10 days in 2009 from three wholesale markets: in Poznań, Wrocław and Tychy, then they were categorized according to stalk longevity, flower colour, origin, flower storage life and wholesale market location. The results showed that the highest wholesale price of roses was in Poznań and the lowest in Tychy. Moreover, the prices of red and rose – coloured flowers were higher than those of the yellow or white ones. Also, the rose cultivars with a long storage life (12 - 16 days) were more expensive almost throughout the whole of 2009 than the cultivars with a shorter storage life (8 - 12 days).
