The aim of the paper is evaluation of conformability between actual soil moisture appointed in laboratory and indices of soil moisture used in hydrology: Lambor’s anterior precipitation index (IL) and American index (Ia). The notation for soil moisture is taken from experiments conducted in Department of Agronomy experimental station in Chylice between April and November 2006. Statistical analysis of results proves that for soil with strong loamy sand granulation the dependence between actual soil moisture and each of anterior precipitation indices (IL lub Ia) is not too strong, although signifi cant (maximum value of correlation coeffi cient R = 0,488). After including the second independent variable, air temperature, in the regression model, maximum value of R, measuring dependence between actual soil moisture and anterior precipitation index (IL lub Ia) and air temperature equals 0,896.
