W wyniku zastosowania chemomutagenów uzyskano mutanty lędźwianu siewnego (Lathyrus sativus L.) pochodzącymi z dwóch krajowych odmian: Krab i Derek. Szeroki zakres zmian obserwowano w składzie kwasów tłuszczowych, w którym dominującym okazał się kwas linolowy i oleinowy, a w dalszej kolejności kwas linolenowy, palmitynowy, stearynowy i eikozynowy. Na uwagę zasługują mutanty o wyższej zawartości kwasu oleinowego hamującego w diecie człowieka odkładanie cholesterolu w naczyniach krwionośnych.

As a result of using chemomutagenes mutants of grasspea (Lathyrus sativus L.) were obtained. They were derived from two Polish cultivars Krab and Derek. It was demonstrated that the applied mutants and their doses proved to be an effective tool for increasing genetic variability of the analyzed traits as compared with their initial cultivars (control). The effect of including mutations was obtaining mutants with improved usable traits. Mutants were also characterized with broadening the spectrum of protein content and especially fat. Wide range of changes was observed in the composition of fatty acid among which the domineering are the linoleic and oleic acids and then linoleic, palmitic, stearic and eicosenic acids. Attention should be paid to mutants of a higher content of oleic acid, which in human died inhibits the accumulation of cholesterol in blood vessels.
