Trawy posiadają zdolności detoksykacyjne, dezaktywacyjne, wbudowują w swoją biomasę substancje chemiczne i pierwiastki stanowiące skład odcieku. Przeprowadzono analizy biometrii na poszczególnych gatunkach traw: poziom darniowy (m), głębokość zalegania głównej masy korzeniowej (m), maksymalna długość korzeni (m). Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono większą długość korzeni u wszystkich gatunków traw na obiektach, gdzie zastosowano odciek składowiskowy. Wykazano również głębsze zaleganie głównej masy korzeniowej, u wszystkich gatunków traw podlewanych odciekiem, za wyjątkiem kostrzewy owczej. Większą miąższość poziomu darniowego, odnotowano u wszystkich traw podlewanych odciekiem za wyjątkiem życicy trwałej. Uzyskane wyniki przeprowadzonych badań, potwierdzają dużą zdolność traw do zagospodarowania odcieku.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the grass species root growth where effluent from municipal waste disposal was applied. The experiment was established at the northern slope of a municipal waste dump at Swojec in Wrocław. The experiments were established according to a split - block design with two factors (1) particular grass species, (2) effluent from municipal waste disposal applied to be compared to the untreated control. Grasses do successfully fulfill three basic functions of reclamation process: antierosion, soil building and decoration. The right grass root growth in the sod process is a fundamental element to stabilize the subsoil horizontally and vertically. Root system overgrown with grass stabilize the subsoil and prevent wind and water erosion. The young developing grass uses the adaptation - evolutionary mechanism to overcome environmental resistance conection with the overgrown marginal made ground. The effluents from municipal waste disposal have a high content of hazardous pollution for the surface and underground water. The effluent is a serious problem for the quantity as well as chemical and biological reasons. Grasses have the ability of detoxication, and deactivation. The following were researched in the experiment: sod level (m), main root mass [m], max length of root (m). The experiment in Swojec revealed: higher length of roots in all grass species on the objects where effluent from municipal waste disposal was applied in comparison to the control treatment. The higher main root mass (m) was proved for all grass species apart from Festuca ovina. The higher sod level (m) was recorded for all grass species apart from Lolium perenne. The research proved a high grass ability of effluent management. The research proved that grass ability of effluent management depended on the grass species.
