The main objective of this paper is to analyze the opportunities of culinary tourism (food tourism) development within the framework of rural tourism (rural culinary tourism). The paper focuses on culinary tourism, the role of food products in tourism and examines the relationships between rural tourism and other forms of tourism, including culinary tourism. The paper argues that culinary tourism may potentially appeal to senior tourists. The study involved a survey conducted among active senior tourists which shows their interest in culinary tourism.
