The tube complement fixation test (TCFT) and the fluorescent complement fixation test (FCFT) were used for differentiation of mixed adenoviral infections. Differences in titres of complement fixing antibodies were found, depending on a subgroup to which belonged adenovirus serotype responsible for antibody production. It was possible to identify adenovirus serotypes, basing on differences in the complement fixation titres. The results of investigations indicated that the two methods of CFT may be used both for the identification of antibodies, if purified adenovirus serotypes belonging to the both subgroupes were available, and viruses isolated from infectious material.
