W pracy przedstawiono gastronomię uliczną w wybranych krajach Afryki, na podstawie literatury i doświadczeń własnych. Gastronomia uliczna jest dla mieszkańców Afryki podstawowym źródłem pozyskania żywności oraz miejscem pracy wielu słabo wykształconych Afrykańczyków. Dla turystów jest natomiast atrakcją turystyczną. Umożliwia poznanie lokalnej kultury i jednocześnie zaspokojenie głodu. Żywność sprzedawana na ulicy może być jednak nieodpowiedniej jakości higienicznej i stanowić potencjalny czynnik wywołujący choroby przenoszone przez żywność, dlatego też należy zwracać uwagę na warunki higieniczne, w jakich jest przygotowywana i sprzedawana.

The study presents street food in selected African countries, and it's based on literature and own experiences. Street food is for Africans the basic source of food and the place of work for many poorly educated citizens. For tourists it is a tourist attraction. It allows to learn about local culture and at the same time satisfies hunger. Food sold on the street may have low level of hygienic quality and may be a potential cause of food-borne diseases, that's why the hygienic conditions in which meals are prepared and sold should be taken into account.
