Flat element is not only the construction, but also the creative element. The aim of the paper is to analyze some of the aspects of the flat element made of solid wood in historical context. It is investigating the material structure, construction and technological principles of their creation. Basic basis for the mentioned analyze were selected types of historical furniture from the collection of the Slovak museums. Majority of the investigated objects was the wardrobe and table furniture from the period of gothic, renaissance, baroque,... as well as interesting types of the contemporary furniture.

Praca opisuje niektóre aspekty konstrukcyjne elementów płytowych w kontekście historycznym . Pod uwagę wzięto strukturę materiału, konstrukcję i zasady technologiczne jego wykonania. Podstawą są wybrane meble historyczne ze słowackich muzeów. Większość analizowanych obiektów stanowią garderoby i stoły z okresów gotyku, renesansu, baroku, jak również interesujące konstrukcje współczesne.
