The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of the application of a prophylactic program based on effective microorganisms on the run and the results of fattening (daily weight gain) and slaughter value (fat thickness, longissimus muscle depth, meatiness) and state of intestinal microflora (colony-forming unit CFU, coefficient coli/lacto) of fatteners. Together with the feed or with water, Pro-Biotyk (em15)® was administered; SCD ProBio Original (EM-Farming) Ema was employed in the piggery environment. The experiment was conducted on 132 crossbred pigs, classified in two groups: control (C) and experimental (E), 66 animals in each group, with the preservation of the sex ratio of porkers: gilts as 1:1. During the fattening period (113 days, the initial body weight equal to 24.7 kg), the animals were fed 3 full-ration mixtures. A favorable effect of bacterial additives on daily body weight gains (1st stage of fattening and the whole fattening period - p ≤ 0.05) was confirmed. The dressing percentage of pigs from group E vs. C was lower (p ≤ 0.01). Any effect of probiotics on the remaining slaughter results was not found. Coli/lacto ratio in group E vs. C during the first stage of fattening (1-25 days) was twice as low, which confirms the favorable effect of preparation Pro-Biotyk (em15)® on intestinal microflora of the young animals. The findings of our research indicate the practical suitability of effective microorganisms in the production of pigs.
