Three small, fully forested watersheds with long-time series of measurements of climatic and hydrological elements localized in the Jeseniky and Beskydy mts. along the border between Czech Republic and south-west Poland were considered. The evaluation of rainfall-runoff process in the time of calibration period and forest renewal under air pollution showed that its relationship depends more on interrelated natural and geografie fluctuating elements than on the management methods in forests. Howewer only management techniques with favourable impacts on the ecology have to be used. The heavy rainfall in July 1997 caused the catastrophic flooding in the basins of Morava and Odra rivers. We have recorded that the forests did not reduce the peak of outflows.
