Dithiocarbamates are one of the major fungicide groups used to protect crops from fungal diseases. The data on dithiocarbamates res idues in apples were collected during the years 2009 - 2012. The method used to determine dithiocarbamates in food involves the analysis of carbon disulfide generated during hydrolysis of the compounds found in the sample. A total of 3955 samples of apples were tested . Dithiocarbamate residues detected i n the samples analyzed in this study we re at low levels , and there wasn’t any sample in which the maximum residue level (MRLs) of dithiocarbamat es exceed ed the legal value . It was noted that 20 % of tested apples had detectable level of dithiocarbamate s residue, which is comparable with the results obtained in other European countries .
