The studies were carried out on two rabbit farms. The disease was caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes and the infection concerned the whole flock of rabbits, bringing about death in 3-5 week-old animals in the range of 9-14%. Besides, 77-86 per cent of the farms became infected as well. A live vaccine (Tv-4) and inactivated vaccines (Tm-3 and Tm-4) were administered to rabbits twice at intervals of 14 days. In the control group only iodophors were applied locally. Both types of vaccines proved to be effective enough. In adult rabbits the lesions recessed after 3 weeks from the second dose of the vaccines. In young animals observation at day 70 showed that the percentage of diseased rabbits was 7-9 times lower than that in the control group. Vaccination of the whole flock as well as the disinfection of cages with a 5% solution of Pollena Jod-K contributed to a recession of the disease after 4 months. The positive effect of vaccination in the control group of T.m. infection was confirmed.
