U 90 kobiet , z prawidłowymi cyklami miesięcznymi, oznaczono aktywność DBH w surowicy, COMT w erytrocytach oraz MAO w surowicy i w płytkach krwi. Stwierdzono, że u kobiet narażonych na przewlekłe działanie CS2 występuje znamienne obniżenie aktywności wszystkich badanych enzymów biorących udział w metabolizmie amin katecholowych.

The study involved 90 women divided in two groups. Group I (control group) included 30 women whose mean age was 41.18 ± 7.6 years and who were not exposed to CS2. Group II (test group) included 60 women whose mean age was 43.35 ± 8.3 years and who were employed at a synthetic fibre factory under chronic exposure to CS2 vapour at concentrations ranging from 3.0 to 7.5 ppm. The activity of dopamine-Ŕeta hydroxylase (DBH) in serum was determined by the Nagatsu colorimetric method; of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) in erythrocyte lyzates by the Axelrod and Tomchik fluorimetric method as modified by Raymond. The activity of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in blood serum and platelets was determined by the Wutrman and Axelrod isotopic method. The results were subjected to a statistical analysis using the t'Student and the Welch test. It was found that the activity of DBH (p˂0.001) in serum, COMT (p˂0.001) in erythrocytes (p˂0.001) and of MAO in serum (p˂0.001) and in blood platelets (p<0.001) of women chronically exposed to CS2 was significantly lower than in the controls.
