The article is a continuation of the deliberations on the topic of the restoration of the historic area of Warsaw's Praga District that the author presented in the previous issue of the quarterly. In the actions undertaken in the center of the Praga North district since the late 90s of the previous century, an evolution of ideas on the renovation could be noticed. In the mid 90s under the impact of the investment boom, the suburban character of the central street was being transformed into metropolitan space; the places of past historical substance were developed with postmodern high-story complexes that referred to the scheme of pre-war tenement houses. A lack of acceptance for such actions brought about the preparation of a social program for the revalorization of Ząbkowska street. The main idea of this program consisted of the restoration of the historical face of the street through the renovation of the facades of surviving tenement houses and through the animation of the street area with an attractive set of services. The revalorization ventures performed on Ząbkowska street since the beginning of 2000 were part of the actions from the technical and economic areas of the formal Revitalization Program of the Praga North District approved by the local self-government at the end of 2007. In this revitalization program special emphasis was placed on actions related to the social sphere. This had a direct connection to the preferences for socially oriented actions during the application for funding of programs from European Union funds.
