The purpose of the study was to determine a proper withdrawal time in case of Mastisan PN/MC, a new drug designed for the treatment of mastitis in dairy cows. The examinations were carried out on six healthy cows and 20 animals with clinical signs of mastitis. Mastisan PN/MC was administered once into two quarters of the udder in normal cows and into one quarter of animals with mastitis. The findings were evaluated by the rapid diffusion test (STD) based on Bacillus stearothermophilus and Penzym test. The presence of drug residues was found between 12-60 hours after the administration of Mastisan PN/MC. Therefore, the withdrawal time was established at 72 hours after a single application of Mastisan PN/MC or the last intramammary one.
