The purpose of the work was to determine the level of haemoglobin, Hct index and the content of mineral components in the serum and erythrocytes in relation to the degree of meat breed’s participation in sheep crossbreeding. The studies were conducted on terms of production on pure Polish Merino sheep and their crossbreds (Polish Merino ewes x Suffolk rams) with 50% and 75% of Suffolk blood participation. The level of Hb, the value of Hct and Na, K, Ca, Cl, inorganic P and Mg contents in serum and erythrocytes were estimated. The mean value of haematological indices in blood and mean contents of macroelements in the serum were within the range qualified as the physiological standards. There was found statistically significant differences concerning the macroelements level in the serum and erythrocytes among different groups of crossbreds according to the degree of Suffolk breed’s participation.
