Helicobacter pylori infection has decisive significance in the development of the gastrointenstinal ulcers and the stomach cancer. It appears at about 50% of people on world (in Poland at over the 80%). The risk of infection is mainly bound up with the low socio-economic status. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether nutrition can influence on the H. pylori infection. Eating habits were examined in two groups: I control group (53 patients without H. pylori infection) and II examined group (66 patients with H. pylori infection). Statistically significant differences were found in the case of the frequency of eating dairy products (p < 0.0001) in patients without infection with H. pylori. It allows for constructing a hypothesis, that probiotics, mainly Lactobacillus, can prevent discussed infection, while in patients with H. pylori infection can lead to eradication of this bacterium.
