The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of pharmacological synchronization of ovulation and reinsemination on the number of litters in gilts and sows. The investigations were done on 207 gilts and 206 sows. Ovulation was synchronized by the use of Receptal (2 ml/animal) or Chorulon (500 iu/animal). Reinsemination was performed 24 h after the first insemination. It was found that reinsemination and ovulation synchronization significantly increased the number of piglets in litters of gilts and decreased the number of still born piglets. The procedure used did not significantly increase the number of piglets in litters of sows. However, it decreased the percentage of still born piglets.
