Paper reviews existing computer aided systems developed for various plant protection programmes for horticultural crops grown under open field conditions. Simple models and linear programming are applied to develop the support systems for the Supervised Pest Management (Intelligent Pesticide Management). To develop computer programmes for Ecologically Based Pest Management extended application of simulation modelling and dynamic programming is of ten required. Available expert systems used in various countries for plant protection decisions in horticultural crops are presented. The user's friendliness and value of internet information sources on plant protection for research workers, extension service staff and the growers, are compared to other sources of information on plant protection in Poland.
