The paper presents an evaluation of the production potential of Polish agriculture compared to the member states of the European Union. Basic differences are emphazised. Poland's resources of farm land per capita are considerable. The attitude towards work of Polish farmers is definitely high. This is a result of the small scale farms. The capital availability of Polish farms is lower than in the EU. A definite weakness of polish agriculture is the low level of self-organisation of farmers, concerning production, supply, distribution and processing. This will be a major problem for the integration process with the EU.
