W latach 2005–2007 wykonano inwentaryzację cietrzewia Tetrao tetrix i głuszca Tetrao urogallus na terenie Tatrzańskiego Parku Narodowego, stanowiącego najbardziej na południe Polski wysuniętą ostoję tych gatunków. Szesnastu obserwatorów podczas 46 patroli terenowych przeprowadziło łącznie 186 obserwacji bezpośrednich oraz 217 obserwacji śladów bytowania obu gatunków kuraków. Stosując oba rodzaje obserwacji wykazano 65 razy obecność cietrzewia i 338 razy – głuszca. Zlokalizowano 7 tokowisk cietrzewia i 10 głuszca. Najliczniejsze tokowiska stwierdzono w zachodniej części parku.

Between 2005–2007 detailed censuses of Black grouse Tetrao tetrix and Capercaillie Tetrao urogallus were carried out in the Tatra National Park, where southernmost Polish populations of both species occur. The team of 16 field observers carried out 46 controls, with a total of 186 direct encounters and 217 records of traces of the species occurrence. Both types of data account for 65 records of Black grouse and 338 records of Capercaillie. The number of leks for each species was 7 and 10, respectively, and most numerous lekking arenas were found in the western part of the Park. The majority of leks, both for Black grouse and Caperrcaillie, harboured only single males. Total numbers of both species, estimated using 2006 data (6 Black grouse males and 15 males of Capercaillie ) is lower than rough estimates obtained using yearly data from 2004 and 2005, which confirms negative trend of these species both in their Carpathian range and throughout Poland
