Sixty one species of dragonflies were found in the lakelands in NE Poland during about 200 years of studies. The history of studies and the state of knowledge are presented. The list of species recorded in four macroregions and numbers of species known from 18 mesoregions are given. Composition of the fauna of the area is analysed.
