A new locality for Wielkopolska was found on the 5th of October 2008. It is localized in a ditch which lies about 2 km to the north-east from the village Markosice, Gubin commune, district Krosno Odrzańskie, Lubuskie province. The ditch is almost 2 m wide. Search was carried out on a section of about 100 m from the bridge, along the highway in the western direction. On the whole section, the small-leaved watercress occurred very numerously, in bigger or smaller patches floating on the water on the whole width of the ditch. It grows there in a Nasturtietum microphylli association. Its phytocenoses overgrow there the bed of a pure and very slow flowing small ditch. Although the plants of Nasturtium microphyllum produce roots in the nodes of leaves, no rooting in the soil was visible. On the day when the plant was found, one could observe that many specimens were flowering and fruiting. The greatest threat for the population of that plant could be a flood, water pollution, or conservation of the river banks and of the river bed.
