Between January 1986 and May 1991 the method of osteosynthesis by ZESPOL was applied in the treatment of 206 fractures and disturbances of bone adhesion in dogs of both sexes. The dogs were from 3 month to 12 years old with no additional external limb immobilization. All possible ways of osteosynthesis were performed, the healing of bones was analyzed as well as the evaluation of the treatment results was made. The application of ZESPOL osteosynthesis was succesful in 193 cases. The fate of four dogs was unknown as they were not subjected to further examinations, two dogs were put to death because of severe complications; and in the case of seven dogs the adhesion was not achieved. Up till now in the veterinary practice there have been no equally effective and giving so many possibilities method as far as osteosynthesis is concerned.
