The paper presents some problems that occur in chemical plant protection in the regions polluted by industrial emissions. An example of this problem may be the results of many years' research conducted in this field in the agroecosystem polluted by sulphur compounds in the region of sulphur factory, near Tarnobrzeg. They showed serious disturbances in ecological balance leading to irreversible changes in the fauna of cultivated plant. This phenomenon concerns mainly the area in the distance of 3 km from chemical factories. Many species of insects have died on the meadows directly affected by the emissions of sulphur compounds. This problem concerned also the useful insects. However, the insects developing under cover of leaves and particularly those which feed on plant juice, e.g. aphis, occurred in great numbers both in meadows andin corn. In integrated methods of plant protection these problems should be taken into consideration, especially when plant protection programmes are worked out for the regions polluted by industrial emission.
