The necessity of knowledge of rules and standards valid in the countries importing our fruits and vegetables is stressed. The OECD standard for fresh fruits and vegetables is discussed. There is a lack of the standard for fruit-and- vegetable processing products-it is sufficient to observe the accordance with general rules, the range of which is quoted. Barriers occurring in our export of fruits and vegetables, such as residues of pesticides and the content of additions to food products are discussed. The necessity of rigorous observations of the production hygiene rules, e.g. by introduction of the international systems (HACCP) is stressed.
