A number of manufactures of long tradition in combine harvester production (such as Claas, John Deere, Laverda, New Holland), along with developing construction and introducing progressive technique and technology, undertook the designing and building so-called mountain combine harvesters. Recently the combine harvester may be adapted to operation on the slopes in two ways. The first way consists in levelling of combine transportation assembly through the application of more complicated power transmission system. The other method of adapting combine harvesters to operation on inclined areas is individual levelling particular working assemblies of the machine. Generally, the construction of mountain combine harvesters is much more complicated than the combines of traditional design. Consequently, these machines are heavier, more expensive and equipped with the engines of much higher power rating than the traditional combines. Considering relatively high prices of mountain combine harvesters as well as the fact that yielding of cereal crops on the mountain terrains - as a ruleis lower than on flat areas, the interest of Polish farmers in such machines will be rather limited.
