Technologies enabling easy acquisition and comparison of object information recorded in various ranges of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum are widely applied to reconnaissance of natural environment. Photography is the most popular one. It provides fairly much information concerning the surrounding environment but in the era of ubiquitous computer science and technology it seems to be too slow. Television technology provides an alternative, especially the methods of recording by means of video cameras. The paper presents a system of multispectral imagery acquisition based on video technology and its application to remote investigation of the environment on an example of shallows detection.
