791 bulls bred in the Central Bull Breeding Station (CBBS) in Regielnica during the period 1982-1988 were subject to investigation. The analysis included the traits taken into consideration at individual evaluation of bulls, i. e. daily gain from 121st to 360th day of age, body weight, height at withers and chest girth at the age of one year and values of those traits in relation to contemporaries within the breeding station. For the bulls purchased by animal breeding and insemination stations during the years 1982- 1986, breeding value evaluation results were given on the basis of BLUP method - i. e. the superiority of daughters over contemporaries as regards milk and fat yield in kg, the proportion of fat in milk, and evaluation repeatibility. It has been found that in the bull population under study there was no clear tendency indicating progress in such traits age the body weight, height at withers and chest girth at the age of one year as well as daily body weight gain during the period of control fattening. Most of the bulls bred for insemination in the CBBS in the analysed period, show a mediocre breeding value as regards milk traits, in spite of obtaining positive individual evaluation results.
