The aim of the study was to apply and evaluate the usefulness of oligobiopsy performed under the control of ultrasonography and histopathological examination for the diagnostics of glomerulonephritis in dogs. The study was conducted on 15 dogs of different breeds and sexes, aged 11 months - 11 years with symptoms of glomerulonephritis. The bioptates were collected from the kidneys by semiautomatic Tru-cut needles of the following parameters: diameter - 1.6 mm, length - 150 mm, the chamber length for the bioptate - 20 mm. The significant pathological changes of glomeruli were found in 13 bioptates out of 15 biopsies performed. Eight histopathological diagnoses were made: focal segmental glomerulosclerosis - 3 cases; membranoproliferataive glomerulonephritis - 4 cases; glomerulonephritis mesangialis - 2 cases; chronic diffuse glomerulonephritis - 2 cases; extracapillary glomerulonephritis - 1 case; minimal change disease 1 case. On the basis of the conducted research it was discovered that oligobiopsy performed under the control of ultrasonography is a very useful diagnostic technique for the diagnosis and differentiation of glomerulonephritis. The histopathological evaluation of bioptates combined with the clinical history, the clinical examination result, blood and urine test results and ultrasound examination results allows the diagnosis in terms of qualitative and quantitative changes.
