Faunistic investigations carried out in the Roztocze (south-eastern Poland) in 1986-1990 revealed the occurrence of 88 species of scale insects, including 20 previously known, 63 new to the region, four new for fauna of Poland and one new for the science. This number constitutes 64% of the Polish fauna, thus the Roztocze belongs, beside the Wyżyna Krakowsko-Częstochowska (Kraków- Częstochowa Upland) and Góry Świętokrzyskie (Świętokrzyskie Mts), to the best studied in Poland. In addition to faunistic data some biological, ecological and zoogeographical aspects are discussed.
