Emisje przemysłowe i motoryzacyjne, odpady górnicze, przemysłowe i komunalne, ścieki, nawozy i środki ochrony roślin w coraz większym stopniu są powodem skażenia środowiska metalami ciężkimi. Skażeniu ulegają gleby, powietrze i woda.

Industrial and traffic-related emissions, mining and other industrial waste, communal refuse, sewage, fertilizers and pesticides are increasingly involved in contaminating the environment with heavy metals. The contamination affects soils, air and water. Via dietary plants, heavy metals enter human and animal bodies. That is why the maximum permissible concentrations of heavy metals in soil and food are so important. The author discusses limits to the concentrations of heavy metals in soil, plants, fodders and foodstuffs.
