The purpose of the research carried out in the Kampinos Forest in 1963 was to determine the toxoplasm prevalence among the birds. The smears of the brain, pancreas, liver and blood were tested for the presence of the Protozoa. The preparations on the slides were stained with the Giemza method. A total of 330 birds belonging to 27 species were examined. No toxoplasm was found in 1550 preparations. However, the studies revealed the presence of the Protozoa of the family Haemoproteidae (Doflein, 1916) belonging to the Haemoproteus and Leucocytozoon genera. The Haemoproteus fringillae was found in the blood of 11 bird species, and Leucocytozoon sp. in the blood of 2 species.
